Formed in 2010 by Dave Singleton, Nick DeVan, and Mark Spain, Magic In Threes is an instrumental combo with a love of library music, soundtracks, and hip-hop tapes. With a sound that mixes heavy beats with cinematic and sometimes psychedelic overtones, the band emphatically wear their influences on their sleeves. They released their 2011 debut LP Magic in Threes on G.E.D. Soul, followed by the single "Summertime Strut" b/w "Money Mark in tha Summer" the following year. In 2015 they released Return Of... as a limited edition cassette tape. That same year they paired with the Brooklyn label Razor-N-Tape for a Record Store Day release featuring remixes of Beatin' Tha Breaks by Fouk and Freddie Joachim. Announcing in late 2015 that they planned to record and release a new song each week of 2016, the band began their most prolific period to date. The resulting 53 tracks were split between albums 3, IV, V, and VI along with the EP Heady Days. In 2017 the band issued a 7inch of At Jody's on UK label KingUnderground followed by a second 45, "Finnish Funk" and a vinyl reissue of Return Of in 2018. In 2019 they released two 45s on Spasibo from their Heady Days EP, "Dungeon Boogie" and "The Jostle". 2020 Saw the vinyl release of album 3 on KingUnderground. 2023 saw the release of "Push the Rock" with Amber Woodhouse along with several digital singles and instrumentals throughout the year. A new album is due in early 2024 as well as a vinyl repress of their 2011 self-titled debut.
