Born on the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint-Martin, music was an integral part of Malaïka’s life from a very early age. Being surrounded by music at home and involved in her father's gospel band helped her to realize her love for music.With years of classical music training under her belt, Malaïka left for Martinique in 1999 to further her studies where she made her way onto the musical scene on the French-speaking island. She has worked as a background vocalist with some of the greatest in French Reggae such as the group 4 Hard Way, Tiwony, Lusdy, Mounia, Valley, Pleen Pyroman, Mc Janik. Back on her home island in 2009 she started doing occasional background vocals for various local artists such as Percy Rankin, D.O Gizzle, and King Vers among others. Her first original, “This Journey” was released in 2017 a spin off from her solo concert series “The Journey to me”. In 2021, her collaboration “Apran Enmew” with French Artist Fred Deshayes took the Caribbean dance floors by storm. On August 31st, Malaika released a zouk/kizomba cover of hit title track from Ella Mai “Naked”. Her 2nd original "Rise Again" was released in 2022. Her 3rd single "Talking" was recently released.
