Lay-Ko Beats is the pseudonym of John Layko Torkelson. Long time vinyl collector and beat maker living in Little Rock Arkansas. Torkelson was active in the Michigan and Chicago music scenes in the early aughts playing in groups Dear Dead City and Glynis. After a hiatus of 10 years a new project was born out of a want to capture the sounds of the vinyl records. Torkelson has collected vinyl for over half of his 3 years having collected extensively in Detroit, Chicago, Denver Colorado, and all points in between. He uses his extensive collection as inspiration for the various flavors of Lo-Fi he and collaborators create and the new technology available to musicians that was not readily available 10+ years ago.
