802 and Memo are longtime friends who linked up while in college in Vermont in 2008. 802 recorded his first music in 2005 with his self produced album, Our Best Days and met Memo at a college party at Castleton State College, where he was captivated by a 15 minute freestyle by Memo. The pair became quick friends and worked exclusively with producer ACAV from Barre, VT, to record their first and only album to date, Rap It Up, released in 2010. Known for being both ahead of and behind their time as artists (you'll hear music that sounds like it belongs in 2000 and 2020 on their 2010 release) 802 is known for catchy hooks and deliberate flow changes while Memo is known for his unique sound, exquisite metaphorical lyricism, and an unlimited freestyles. Since disbanding in 2010 to pursue more traditional careers Memo has made a name for himself in the written battle rap world and is regarded as a top battle rapper in the North East. Memo and 802 reconnected in Boston in 2016 when Memo moved down to work with 802 at the same company. Rumors have it a new album is in the works and 8AM is ready to reclaim their spot as the best rap duo in not only Vermont, but maybe (probably) the universe.
