Elena Setien is a Spanish-Basque artist now living in San Sebastián. Trained in classical violin and composition her recording work started with free improvisation and is now song-based. Elena lived in Copenhagen-Denmark, where she was a part of the label/artist collective ILK with whom she released several albums: first as Little Red Suitcase with co-hort Johanna Borchert and then solo. Elena recently signed to Chicago label Thrill Jockey: "Setién’s declarative gestures both musically and lyrically breathe life into her expressive allegories.
