Bonifrate a.k.a. Pedro Franke began writing songs in the mid nineties while growing up in the picturesque small town of Paraty, Brazil. After a couple of reckless lo-fi experiments as The Psilocybian Devils, he recorded a couple of EPs at home, playing all the instruments himself. From 2003 to 2016, Bonifrate was ahead of popular Brazilian psychedelic group Supercordas, but his solo project kept growing, specially after his 2011 LP Um Futuro Inteiro. The record was a unanimous hit for the local indie press, and therefore many concerts have followed, with a fluid set of musicians that includes a few Supercordas' members and other friends. A vinyl reissue is out through Dom Pedro Records. After moving back from Rio to Paraty in 2012, he’s released the albums Museu de Arte Moderna (2013) and Mundo Encoberto (2019), and the EPs Toca do Cosmos (2014) and Lady Remédios (2017), all recorded and mixed at home by himself. Bonifrate recently formed the Guaxe duo with Dinho Almeida (Boogarins). Their first LP came out in 2019 through Overseas Artists Recordings (USA). The fifth studio album by Bonifrate is called Corisco and it will be out 9th June 2021, also through OAR.
