The Monotrones are a dub-collective based in Dresden/Saxony. Their sound might be best described as borderline-Reggae, placed somewhere between the 80ies Jammys Casiobeats, Jahtari Dubstyle and the roughness of the old new wave sound. Produced in the trusted tape sound of the eighties, the Monotrones’ digital-dub doesn’t lose its analog feel and throws a good portion of dirt into the mix. Since their debut “Johnny EP“, the Monotrones travelled the dub orbit and meet space cadet Yugo Taguchi, who was the first collaboration for their second EP called "New Adventures". His version „Fire“ is a smooth rub-a-dub shaker. This side of the EP is opened by the Jamaican-British legend Jah Screechy. He fires off a powerful dancehall anthem in the style of the late 80s called „Old Veteran”. The flipside keeps us in the Style of the 1980s and sees the Spanish reggae artist Ponchita Peligros for a conscious and timely report on the pain that racism makes us all feel. The flip is also serving a darker dub version of the riddim by the Monotrones who are supported by Ripley on this one. The artwork of the Monotones is done by the Devonian graphic designer George Goodwin. Welcome to the world of the space cowboys and strange galaxies.
