"Die Blockflöte ist das natürliche Element von Inês d‘Avena. Völlig ungekünstelt wird ihr Atemfluss zu Klang. ... Sie artikuliert so geschmeidig, als sei die Blockflöte ihre Muttersprache." Tuula Simon, WDR3 Born in 1983 in Rio de Janeiro, recorder player Inês d’Avena specializes in the research and performance of Neapolitan Baroque Music. She has also been passionately working on the revival of forgotten Italian Baroque recorders, commissioning copies and premiering the instruments in concerts and recordings. Inês is praised for her refinement, virtuosism and unique timbre, and is known for blending these qualities as a performer with her engaging work as a researcher and teacher. Inês is a co-founder of New Collegium (Diapason d'Or winner for Chameleon) and artistic director of La Cicala, with whom she has released three albums (Dolce Napoli: Sonate & Concerti per Flauto, Naples 1759 and Mannaggia Amore - Giuseppe Porsile: Cantatas for Soprano). She performs regularly as a soloist and in chamber and orchestral formations throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America, with ensembles such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Concerto Köln. Inês has recorded for Passacaille, Ramée, Challenge Classics, Channel Classics, and Sony Classical, among others. Inês holds a PhD in Music from Leiden University and is a teacher at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague since 2012. She is regularly invited to teach abroad (Royal College of Music, Universidad Nacional de Música in Lima).
