Big Vern's journey began at an early age in North Carolina, where he resided with his father. He experienced what many children experienced at this stage – a broken home. This separation influenced his behavior and contributed to his childhood issues. Upon being kicked out of school in the ninth grade, he then shuffled back to his mother’s home in Ohio. With negativity surrounding him, she pushed him to become more productive. At Christmas, she gifted him with a laptop, recording equipment, and a studio program. With his newfound pastime, he taught himself how to produce and record his own music. Over the years, he was able to perfect his craft while successfully recording and releasing two mixtapes and two compilations, along with holding the undefeated Cincinnati rap battle title. “I want to be the greatest. Wherever the Jay-Z pedestal is, that’s where I want to be.” With influences such as: Jay-Z, Drake, Lil Wayne and The Notorious B.I.G, BIG VERN is rapidly becoming an exceptional up and coming hip-hop artist. “Everybody and everything is an influence when you decide to take music seriously, it just depends on how seriously that you take your craft”. With new music currently in the works, he is determined to make an impact in the music realm. “After you hear my music, you’ll get to hear and be able to visualize what I say. If you have a big enough imagination, when you hear my music, it will be like you’re reading a book. The book is always better than the movie.”
