you should know skier songwriter luke lively grew up a hockey player in minneapolis, minnesota until one year — everything changed — he broke his arm, sidelining him from sports for the year. with his extra free time, luke auditioned for the school musical and was cast as peter pan. this is when he fell in love with music and performing. in 2018, he was at a luke bryan / morgan wallen concert and the dream was born to start writing songs. a few years later, he’d be inspired by the authenticity of Zach Bryan and Noah Kahan, who would be the fuel for his songwriting. luke’s sound was heavily influenced by his nordic roots and the hockey locker room: abba and queen respectively. the last year, for the first time in his life, luke has done a lot of soul searching as a child of divorce. his faith has played a big role in forgiveness and moving forward. as a man, this opening up is new to him. this new EP explains his twenties so far. from the shame of blacking out at a wedding and trying to hide everything to simping over the idea of someone who had already moved on to wanting to feel revenge to the struggle of self-forgiveness to finally letting go of everything. in all, through this rollercoaster of emotion, he is finally bringing his full self to the table.
