Harambee: Canadian Music for Trombone

Biography

Canadian trombonist Dale Sorensen is a versatile musician with extensive experience as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player in classical, popular, and musical theatre genres. An enthusiastic promoter of Canadian music, Dale has premiered more than 20 solo trombone pieces and dozens of chamber works, and recorded an all-Canadian CD of music for trombone. As an orchestral musician, Dale performs regularly with the Charlottetown Festival Orchestra, the Prince Edward Island Symphony, and Symphony Nova Scotia, and has held orchestral positions and/or freelanced throughout southwestern Ontario, in Winnipeg, and as far away as Japan. A dedicated educator, Dale has taught at universities in five Canadian provinces, and serves as an adjudicator and clinician at music festivals and workshops throughout Canada. He is currently Assistant Professor of Brass at the University of Prince Edward Island. Dale holds music degrees from UPEI, Northwestern University, and the University of Toronto.
