Biography

Ole Amund Gjersvik studied at the Grieg Academy/Bergen Conservatory of Music, where he has also taught. As a performing musician, he has led his own trios, quartets and quintets. Gjersvik is very versatile and has played with musicians and groups like Trang Fødsel, Kaizers Orchestra, Ketil Bjørnstad, Ole Paus, Kenneth Sivertsen, Karl Seglem, Olav Dale, Per Jørgensen, Knut Kristiansen, Dag Arnesen, Carsten Dyngeland, Tore Hegdahl, Britt - Synnøve Johansen, Heidi Lambach, Combo Tango, Saft, Mostly Robinson, Lollipop, Waterwagon, Rune Larsen, Tor Endresen, Trygve Thue, Ove Thue and Ivar Medaas. Ole Amund Gjersvik has played on more than 200 albums. He has recorded duo albums with among others Marius Neset, Marita Moe Sandven (Into The Beast), Tore Hegdahl, Tore Thorsen, Kristian Wedberg, Hans Marius Andersen, Arild B. Nielsen and Ugo Santangelo. Gjersvik has also worked a lot with norwegian poets like Ragnar Hovland, Frode Grytten, Pedro Carmona-Alvarez, Bente Bratlund and others. Gjersvik has been widely used in theater (DNS) and television (NRK and TV2) projects. Gjersvik has participated on more than 170 albums. Under his own name he has published more than 50 albums. To name a few of them: “A Voice from the Past” (1990), «Appasionata Criminelle» (1991), «Milonga Triste» (1998), « Live In Bergen» (2011) and “All Together Now” (2014). He recived Rolf Gammleng Award in 2000. In 1990 he founded his own label, Acoustic Records.
