SJU’s creamy electronica swirls and meanders, from existentialism to magic realism, spoken in a childlike guise of playfulness and innocence. SJU started her music journey as the drummer in ORA THE MOLECULE, after meeting the singer Nora Schjelderup in a desert near Salvation Mountain. Together with producer and keyboard player Jan Blumentrath (Elliot Sumner, Pearls Negras) they moved to a small village in Spain and started recording music and playing live shows. Their debut album got signed by MUTE Records and the band was managed by Nerve Management (Fred Again, Haai). After the pandemic their paths parted and SJU temporarily moved to Prague while starting her solo project. In her so far short career she already performed in Berlin, London, New York; and released the single RHYTHM IN YOUR POSE with the french KITSUNE Musique label, which was placed in HBO’s acclaimed Gossip Girl reboot show. One of her latest tracks NYE SKO was picked up by the Norwegian Snorkel Records with an upcoming Single vinyl release in summer 2024. SJU was long listed for “Song of the Year” & “Discovery of the Year” at the 2023 Radio Head Music Awards, and her debut album “MIND THEATRE” was released in April 2024. SJU also runs her own headwear label @BYSJU and makes hats for artist such as Will.I.Am, The Black Eyed Peas, Shaun Ross, Slowdive or the Gorillaz.
