Biography

Kenyan DJ and music producer Kelvin Peter Wanjohi has retained a noticeable presence since he hit the scene in 2013 as a writer for House Music-focused blog, "EDM Kenya". Initially known for his writing role, DJ Fita stepped out as a producer in 2014, when he initiated a run of remixing popular Kenyan music into electronic dance records. He was nominated for the "VJ of The Year" at the Stylus DJ Awards a year later. Raising his profile throughout the next several months by popping up with regular remixes, Fita collaborated with mahemba in 2016 for a 6 track EP under with a new producer collaboration duo, Fitemba DJ Fita stayed busy throughout 2017, appearing in several remixes and various concerts. In 2018 he announced the release of his debut artist single; Break It All Apart, as well as a support tour with the same name. The tour included stops at various festivals, showcasing as a solo act as well as a support act for Benga artist, Makadem After issuing more singles and remixes, the RnB-inspired EP, Name of Love, arrived in August 2020. The EP deviated sonically from earlier works and featured producer Hendrick Sam and singers Poly Joe and Nzau. DJ Fita has remained a marquee name, contributing to the soundscapes of Nairobi and beyond. He was nominated for "Alternative DJ of The Year" at the Caffe Ngoma Awards 2023.
