Biography

For all the nerd-heavy chat about BPMs and frequencies, dance music should be fun. After all, the most radiant club belters exist to create memories (and in some cases erase them). Sometimes all you want to do is get lost in the hedonistic miasma of a sticky-floored palace. As Coldabank puts it on one his club-shaking bangers, sometimes, you Just Wanna Dance. The Bristol born, London-based producer, it’s always been about creating those escape-fuelled moments late-night in the club. Having cut his teeth in the studio assisting for famed mix engineer James F Reynolds (see: Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg, Years & Years, Tinie Tempah) he went on to serve as tour DJ on the road for Labrinth. Debut single “Lovin’ You” exemplified the intoxicating, kaleidoscopic feeling of Coldabank from the off. “Afterlife” captures the frenetic allure. “Good For Me” leans into all-encompassing pop hooks. Meanwhile, “I Just Wanna Dance” is the tune that helps you sink deeper into the night. His infectious catalogue, complete with massive remixes for the likes of Rudimental, Charli XCX and Portugal. The Man, has now amassed tens-of-millions of streams, and he shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. It’s all about being the glue that holds the nights together, letting listeners transpose their own experiences onto the music, but also infusing them with an incredibly personal, lyric-led feeling. “A level of authenticity matters,” he says. “It feels a lot more human and I always strive for that.”
