Alessandro Denabian's style and technique push him far beyond the norm on natural horn playing. His formidable range of repertoire, performed on historical instruments, starts in the exciting Baroque era, and moves seamlessly through the romantic period to the most challenging 20th century music. His passion for the period horn and historical performance practices urged him to explore different techniques and styles of playing. Alessandro is a versatile performer, comfortable in many different situations, including recitals, solo concerts, chamber music and orchestral repertoire. He regularly appears as principal horn with some of the most acclaimed orchestras and ensembles playing on period instruments: I Barocchisti, Concerto Köln, La Petite Bande, Les Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble, La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, and the Venice Baroque Orchestra, among others. His technical excellence, spirited musicality, and vibrant expressiveness never fail to delight his audience in every performance. Alessandro, a native of the Aosta Valley region in Italy, after completing his studies in modern horn under the guidance of Dale Clevenger and Rex Martin, studied natural horn with Thomas Müller at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, and perfected his style with Claude Maury in France. The encouragement, support and innovation of these outstanding teachers have been a source of inspiration and it still stays with him to this day.
