Ever since emerging on the Norwegian music scene in the 1990's, Håvard made his mark as an extremely versatile guitar player, performing in settings as diverse as live TV, theatre pits, jazz clubs, rock bands, classical orchestras and session work. His three albums (at this time, 2020) showcase his strong sense of melodic craftmanship, both intensely lyrical as well as occasionally quirky and humorous. His harmonies are rich and naturally flowing, although upon closer inspection often explores rather uncharted territory. His debut album, "Crossing the universe in a day", is the ultimate artist presentation. It contains a broad selection of Håvard’s artistic palette, showcasing his composing and arranging, as well as performing on most thinkable plucked instruments of the western tradition. The album Acoustic short stories is what the name implies, an all acoustic guitar album. The album gives us 11 original captivating compositions delivered in the purest sense on nylon, and steel string guitar, as well as two tracks of ukulele. All pieces are solo recordings, except "Mirroring the Soul" where Håvard has overdubbed a duet with himself. Caspersen has one of those rare qualities of being able to make just about any stringed instrument he gets his hands on sing with the most natural authority, such as is evident on his latest release, "On the 42nd floor" from 2019, containing guitars; electric and acoustic, mandolins, banjo, tanpura and more. -Frode Berg, bassist & friend.
