Biography

Australian born singer Monique founded her sound through a mix of genres that holds her gypsy heart in place. As a child, she grew up listening to her mother´s Stevie Nicks records and became fascinated by strong female vocalists. Saving every cent she could to buy early Mariah and Whitney tapes. Though she was a little shy, her love for music grew as she navigated her way through her uniqueness. She became strongly influenced by jazz artists and she would often convince her mother to sneak her into pubs and bars to watch and listen to local singers. Monique eventually gave in to her free spirit and spent time traveling before landing on the Baja coastline in Mexico. Performing in bars and local venues, it was there amongst the powers of the desert and sea that she became focussed on her own sound. A perfect storm of her jazz roots mixed in with soul/RnB flavors and folky/singer-songwriter values. all with a touch of her beach culture/roots vibe. Monique´s first EP titled "RENEGADE" was produced by Gonzalo Salado (frontman of the international band "Don Lagrima") The 4 track EP is a love letter to the young woman that is awakening and becoming aware of her own worth. That special something that happens when she starts to heal and live with love in her heart.
