His father produced and directed plays at The Guthrie Theater, O'Shaughnessy Auditorium and a midwest tour as well. Hip Hop Maniac began doing shows as a "Juggling Pantomime" which lead him to perform at the Minnesota State Fair, park festivals among other places. WCCO News once interviewed him at the Minneapolis Convention Center while he was performing. He found out a bit later he wanted to rap after hearing "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash. His first show as a MC was for KMOJ Radio at the activities center on the Northside of Minneapolis. In 1984 he was cast as lead in a national TV commercial by his then agent Eleanore Moore Agency, Uptown, Mpls. Hip Hop Maniac attended Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio) had a short stint on WCSU Radio (Urban Jazz) station but wanted to do mixtapes instead and his production/song formatting skills became honed after performing on campus for thousands of students on a weekly basis. He released his 1st single "Trunk Jazz" "And We Don't Stop" and later released a sleu of mixtapes throughout the midwest. Along with DJ Bionic Man (RIP), they traveled extensively in the early 90s. He has collaborated with The Ohio Players, Indigenous Tribe, Eminem, Pitt Boss from KansasCali, MF Love and has produced songs with alternative rock band Trenched "Swampland Chronicles" and the "Swampland Chronicles" Backwoods Remix.
