Biography

Iranian born composer and multi-instrumentalist Loga Ramin Torkian is internationally recognized for his ground- breaking work with internationally acclaimed electronic/acoustic World Music groups Niyaz and previously Axiom Of Choice. Born in Tehran, Iran & currently based in Los Angeles, Loga is recognized as a highly gifted composer and a visionary for his ability to adapt the Persian classical repertoire to his own unique and modern compositions. Boasting two prestigious Canadian JUNO Award nominations in the Category of “Best World Music Album," Loga's unique approach to Iranian traditional music has set him apart as a true pioneer in his field. He is credited with creating the first ever quarter-tone Guitar with movable frets & in 2004, he further pushed the boundaries of his musical expression by working closely with luthier Jonathan Wilson to create a new unique bowed instrument which he named the "Kamaan". Loga’s talents as an instrumentalist and composer have become sought after by many renowned film composers in Hollywood such as Harry Gregson Williams, Hans Zimmer, Mychael Danna, Jeff Danna, Trevor Morris and Ramin Djawdi. His unique talents have been featured on many major film and Television scores which include “Body of Lies,” “Iron Man,” “Prince of Persia,” “Trespass,” “Tyrant,” “True Blood,” “Nip Tuck,” “Missing,” and “Vikings.”
