Born and raised in the North East of England, Neil-James and David were both musically inclined from a very young age, studying guitar and soon after joining bands. Taking opportunities to perform, the brothers started to subconsciously shape their unique musical style. The 20-something-year-old brothers moved to London to begin their music career as ‘Sereva’. While at first, it seems the alt-rock guitar riffs are there to get your head bopping, they actually stand at a juxtaposition to the sometimes sombre lyrics. Having found inspiration from bands such as Radiohead, Thrice and Jeff Buckley, Sereva’s music is often centred around social and political issues whilst experimenting with an array of genres, showing true textured variety from the two-piece. Their debut EP, ‘Day By Day’ amassed thousands of plays on Spotify in what could be a foreshadowing of success for their upfront and punchy new single ‘Pulling Strings’.
