Biography

Spanish double bass player Pablo Martín Caminero is one of the main promoters of flamenco jazz music. Born in a non-musician family he graduated in classical double bass from the Vienna Music High School and moved to Madrid to find his path in music. He quickly began touring with flamenco jazz artists like Gerardo Núñez and Chano Domínguez but never forgot his passion for classical and baroque music. He has five recordings of his original compositions and one with original arrangements of compositions by great flamenco guitarists. His compositions are creative music influenced by flamenco and jazz with the key elements of improvisation and a profound importance for a connection with the band. He has also worked with flamenco dancers such as Rocío Molina, Joaquín Grilo, Ana Morales, etc… and contemporary dance choreographer Antonio Ruz with whom he has adapted two Bach cello suites for pizzicato double bass in a piece called “Double Bach”, and has written symphonic music for the work “Electra” by the Spanish National Ballet and another work called “In paradisum” for the Spanish National Dance Company. All this diversity has led him to write music for films and other audiovisual creative projects since 2006. He is co-owner of a great recording studio in the heart of Madrid with his two close friends, Noah Shaye and Shayan Fathi called Camaleon Music Studio. In general he is trying to have fun and make a living doing what he loves most with music. Thanks for reading.
