STEVEN TAETZ is an Alberta-born, Toronto-based torch-song singer and songwriter with his own unique blend of contemporary roots, early rock, and blue-eyed soul music. He has written with and for internationally-renowned artists, with songs published on Sony/ATV, Warner, BMG, Nettwerk, and Universal Music. His debut self-titled album was created from a cross-Canadian collaborative songbook co-written with JUNO award-winning singer-songwriters from each province of Canada, such as The Once, Peter Katz, Connie Kaldor, Tara Maclean, and many others. His 2018 album Drink You In debuted at #3 on iTunes jazz charts, and received rave reviews from international press. His 2023 album Late Bloom was nominated for Album of the Year (Folk Canada/ Ontario Folk) and Emerging Artist of the Year (Canadian Folk Music Awards) includes contemporary roots-pop love songs from a queer perspective, created with Jill Barber, Caroline Marie Brooks of Good Lovelies, Jenn Grant. Taetz has performed in leading venues and festivals such as Ottawa Bluesfest supporting Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, Badlands Amphitheatre supporting iconic Canadian band Blue Rodeo, Capital Pride (Washington DC), Hotel Café (L.A.), Rochester Jazz Festival, National Music Centre (Calgary), and L'Astral Theatre (Montreal).
