Four hands, two sisters, one pulse - Mona & Rica Bard already started playing together in their childhood and have been playing piano four hands and at two pianos ever since. National and international awards, recitals throughout Europe, Asia and the USA, appearances with notable orchestras and at renowned music festivals as well as numerous broadcasts on radio and TV prove the duo`s artistic versatility. Among their musical partners, the sisters count the percussionists of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Chinese percussionist Li Biao, KrausFrink Percussion, the jazz pianist and composer Uri Caine and the conductors Ariane Matiakh and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In 2012 Mona & Rica Bard recorded their debut album PAS DE DEUX with French music for piano duo, receiving outstanding acclaim by the international music press. In 2015 CAPRICCIO released the piano duo`s recording of the double concertos by Poulenc and Françaix with Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz conducted by Ariane Matiakh. On October 2, 2020 - the day that marks the 100th anniversary of Max Bruch`s death - CAPRICCIO will release a live recording of his rarely performed double concerto with the Bard Sisters and Staatskapelle Halle under the baton of Ariane Matiakh - a concert that took place just the day before the Corona lockdown in Germany.
