Biography

Hunter Smith is a 20 year old musician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began playing guitar at age 8 after seeing blues guitarist B.B. King in a commercial about diabetic blood sugar supplies. Being a Type 1 Diabetic since the age of 2, Hunter found inspiration in B.B. King's ability to express his difficulties with diabetes through music. Hunter began playing electric guitar and grew into acoustic shortly after. A year after picking up guitar, Hunter met B.B. King in person on his tour bus after King's show at the Keswick Theatre outside of Philadelphia. Upon meeting B.B. King, Hunter became committed to developing his talents and pursuing his love of music. Today, Hunter continues to draw from his origins in blues music to blend rhythmic and lead expressions into modern pop influences. Hunter began to develop his vocal abilities at age 14. This led to the formation of his first band 4 x Far. With his 4 piece band, Hunter covered his classic rock favorites he grew up listening to, including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, and Pearl Jam. When Hunter left for college and his band was forced to downsize, he broke into a stronger focus on acoustic guitar and pop music. At age 20, he plays acoustic gigs at local venues and is working on producing his own music. His musical influences include B.B. King, Frank Ocean, Daniel Caesar, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughn, City and Colour, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jimmy Page, Dave Matthews, and Dave Grohl.
