The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra creates intimate, transformative experiences that connect the musically curious. Founded in 1974, the CCO is widely recognized as one of the leading performing arts organizations in the region. The CCO provides a vibrant and fresh musical experience in an intimate and informal setting, for both the season and novice concert patron. The CCO’s size allows for flexibility and creativity in programming, the ideal ensemble for presenting orchestral works from the Baroque and Classical eras, as well as commissioned works by contemporary composers. The CCO’s often multi-disciplinary performances are a hallmark of the organization, ranging from operatic/choral productions to collaborations with arts organizations in dance, musical theater, puppetry, literature and visual art. In August 2015, the CCO launched the highly acclaimed Summermusik festival. Over 20 days, the CCO presents over a dozen events, ranging from full chamber orchestra concerts at the School for Creative & Performing Arts to chamber concerts at bars and restaurants across the Tri-State. In December 2012, the CCO developed a multi-disciplinary production with Madcap Puppets performing Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. This unique collaboration brings together vocalists, instrumental music, dance, chorus and 10-foot tall puppets. Partnerships for Amahl also include Xavier University, Pones Inc. dancers., local university choirs and Cincinnati Boychoir.
