Biography

Raised on a steady diet of Missy Elliott, Ludacris, The Notorious B.I.G., & Lil Wayne, American rapper/songwriter Jayy TuWize’s boastful tone and raw style, draws on a unique and firsthand experience navigating life in the DMV area. Jayy, also known as Big Goop, draws from his diverse cultural background spanning Guyana and Haiti to offer unapologetic and authentic reflections on street culture. Hailing from Gaithersburg, Maryland during the “Soundcloud Days”, Jayy started with the rap collective Black COAL. The group saw success on the platform with over 7 million streams collectively. In 2015 TuWize found some solo success with freestyles on Dom Kennedy's “Life of a Party” and Logic's “24”. Despite some legal troubles, in the years that followed, Jayy released a solo EP “Half Past Damaged” in 2020 while incarcerated. Since then, the artist has released a series of singles, including drill-focused records such as "Bounce Right Back" (2021) and "Top 3" (2022), as well as the records "Bandemic" (2022) & “Big Goop” (2022). Now free, TuWize has been locked in the studio planning for a multitude of releases. 2023 marks the beginning of a new era for Jayy as he enters with a unique perspective, a strong voice, and the freedom to create.
