Uusinta Ensemble is a contemporary music ensemble founded in 1998 in Helsinki. In 2024 Uusinta Ensemble, conductor Nils Schweckendiek and the Helsinki Chamber Choir were awarded with Grammy for the album 'Kaija Saariaho: Reconnaissance' (BIS) in the Best Choral Performance category. Composer Jarkko Hartikainen works as the Artistic Director of Uusinta Ensemble. In addition to Helsinki and elsewhere in Finland, Uusinta Ensemble has performed in New York, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, Graz, Stuttgart, Buffalo, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Valencia, Oslo, Naestved, Västerås, Copenhagen and Cadiz, having premiered over 100 works in more than 200 concerts. International repertoire is the core of the ensemble’s activity, and the ensemble sees as its prime mission to bring the most exciting composers from all countries to its concerts. The ensemble performs gladly in collaborative concerts with advanced new music groups. Uusinta Ensemble collaborates with the most internationally acclaimed composers of our time such as Beat Furrer (AUT), Kaija Saariaho (FI), Chaya Czernowin (US), Oscar Bianchi (IT/CH), Simon Steen-Andersen (DEN), Mark Andre (GER), Michel van der Aa (NL) and Hèctor Parra (ES). Uusinta Ensemble has recorded five albums so far, latest of which, 'Sebastian Hilli: confluence / divergence' was released in July 2020 by famous Austrian KAIROS record label. New EP album, 'Beat Furrer Duos for violin/viola and piano' will be released in April 2024.
