Rapper, topliner, and occasional producer Seejaye Mitchie has had an interest in music since his youth, but only in 2020 did he start putting out tracks that, when previously conceived, could essentially have been considered “messing around.” A mere handful of years after discovering a love for Christian hip-hop—not to mention an upbringing that hardly considered rap and computer-made beats as a legitimate musical form—he decided to deliver a comical, amateur flow on an experimental project that would later become his first release. Falling in love with what he now calls “fast poetry over beats,” he embraced this new method of music-making and made several more one-off projects that would later come together in his first EP, “Start Somewhere.” Truly, this was the start of something more than just a hobby; the fall of that year was when he felt God calling him to use music as a form of ministry. Seejaye isn’t the typical CHH artist. For one, he’s a rather unlikely hip-hop performer, with little past experience in the realm. But another standout is his experimentation; from pop-like feels to an abundance of high-energy tracks, he’s an artist in the making, and he doesn’t mind that his soon-to-be fans can see the rough bits and growth that have led to where he is today. It’s his mission to use faith, love, life, and testimony to be anything but formulaic while making biblically minded content that anyone can enjoy, and he firmly believes that nothing can stop what God starts.
