César Robles is a Mexican pop singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who hails from Veracruz. His entire childhood was spent singing along with members of his family. He began writing song lyrics while in middle and high school -- often ending up on the wrong end of a scolding by teachers for not using his time "wisely." During his teens, Robles began cutting demos in earnest. He submitted them to the Mexican reality television talent show La Academia on Azteca. Though he didn't make the cut of its first two seasons, he was able to make season three and ended up in third place. Thereafter, he became a member of the band La Posta, where he would meet the man who would become his mentor, producer, and supporter, Juan Carlos Calderón. After going solo, he signed to Sony Music. In 2013 he appeared with Carlos Rivera at the Teatro Metropólitan to duet on "La Quiero a Morir" to a massive audience response. In February of 2017, some ten years after his spotlight performance on La Academia, he released his solo debut album, appropriately titled 1. Its first two singles -- the uptempo pop of "Una Canción Que Te Enamore" and the ballad "No Te Vayas" -- ran up the streaming and video charts, while the album garnered positive reviews across Mexico. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
