Raquel Reno wasn’t the kind of girl to sit at home, waiting to be discovered. In fact, her drive to sing and make music took her across the world; to China, to Abu Dhabi, and finally, to Nashville, where she found herself recording with some legendary singers and musicians. As a young girl in Cheltenham UK, Raquel loved 90’s pop, but dipping into her parent’s music collection, she found Aretha Franklin , Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, whose voices she aspired to emulate. Throwing herself into local jam sessions and open mic nights, Raquel was driven to keep moving, searching for something to ignite the spark and set her on the right path. In 2013, she accepted a job on a whim - moving to China to join a band! ‘I quit two jobs and was there within a week, performing pop songs in a new nightclub. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced, but it opened up my world.’ After that, she found herself on a flight to Dubai where she formed a rockabilly band giving current pop songs a vintage twist. She was finally honing her sound with music that inspired her. But when Covid hit, everything came to a crashing halt! Back in London, Raquel started writing her own material, diving into her growing collection of classic vinyl, and drawing on her love of sixties soul. Her debut release comes in summer 2023, but even before that is her collaboration with DJ and Producer collective W.D.C on an uptempo powerhouse cover of Sananda Maitreya's hit ‘Sign Your Name’.
