Born and bred in the north-east of Scotland, Katie Mackie first made her name in her local music scene back in 2018 with the release of her debut album, ‘Kick It in the Head’. Since then, Katie has shared stages with musical elites like Lewis Capaldi and Heather Small (M People) and made a name for herself at festival stages across the country. As well as establishing her solo work, she has also played with Glasgow band American Clay, where she further refined her musical craft. Lockdown was a fruitful time for Katie. Her first release in two years, ‘Glow’, produced by JP O’Grady, set a new benchmark for her artistic potential and was picked up by radio stations and music press across the UK, as well as Spotify’s Scottish themed editorial playlist, Scotify. Hot on its heels was ‘Terricot Town’, released in March 2021. The track’s elevating melodies and carefully curated lyrics were an instant hit with listeners, catapulting Katie onto the national scene with support from BBC Introducing in Scotland who crowned Terricot Town as track of the week as well as featuring Katie as their first 'Introducing Introduces' guest on the show. ‘Nothing Without You’ marked the next chapter in Katie’s career selected by Janice Forsyth as track of the week on BBC Radio Scotland.
