Don Cuco, also known as Rico Mendez is a multi musician, producer and DJ. He has played percussion for artists such as Natasha Bedingfield, King Britt, played guitar and percussion for his early group Los Nativos (Rhymesayers) a Latino Hip Hop group talking about pre colombian and indigenous matters. He has opened up for and shared the stage with his projects/bands and as a DJ for many acts such as Macy Grey, Black Eyed Peas, Mana, Caifanes, Ozo Matli, Los Amigos Invisibles, Omar Souleymen, Angelic Kidjo, Novalima, and more. As a producer he has produced for his own projects, bands, and remixes under Sarah White, Shiro Dame and Don Cuco. Also has been certified in Sound and Vibrational healing and makes sound therapy music as well. His latest projects he's been working on more organic electronic down tempo tropical folkloric music with his group Curandero, which consists of live hand made (by members of Curandero) Pre Colombian indigineous clay flutes, along with other Aztec and Myan instruments combined with electronic sounds and production. Under Don Cuco he has been working on more Afro Latino House music with his latest vinyl/digital release "Agua Es Vida EP' on Sonorama Records which includes his remix of XL Records artist Ibeyi, and 2 originals. And now his latest release Yuri ft. Truely on Turntables on the hudson records.
