Ras Ajai is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall recording artiste, singer and songwriter raised by his adopted parents in Waterford, Portmore (St. Catherine, Jamaica). Being adopted by a pastor he (Ajai) had to go to church every Sunday and it was there he first got involved with music. Ajai was being mentored by the legendary Jamaican saxophonist, Dean Fraser and internationally acclaimed reggae singer Tarrus Riley. Now he is doing a lot of work with Grammy Award winning, international dancehall sensation @SeanPaul through his label Dutty Rock Productions. In 2012, he released his breakout single ‘Pack Up Yuh Tings’ which is still getting lots of love in the reggae music arena. 2017 saw him dropping his biggest song to date, an ode to marijuana called ‘Smoking Loud’, which has been in heavy rotation on reggae-focused radio stations since then. He followed that up with the release of Peanut Vendor and Revolution Time which has been mildly successful. In 2018 he released ‘Money Fi Run’ on Dutty Rock Productions’ first riddim release the Gang Gang Riddim, the song gained him much more ears as people were able to see Ajai’s lyrical talent and flow on a dancehall beat. Fast-forward to June 2019, Dutty Rock Productions released the Callaloo Riddim which features his dancehall hit single ‘Di Ras Hot’. Currently, Di Ras Hot is making waves in the dancehall space as a staple at dancehall events and in radioland. Ajai’s aspiration is to leave an indelible mark on reggae/dancehall music.
