Kareem Hassib (stage name punctuated as “kareem.”) is an emerging Egyptian-Japanese teen musician who now resides in Nanaimo, B.C. Canada. He is Classically trained, and is experienced in Jazz performance and theory, all of which goes towards his work. He plays the Piano, Guitar, Saxophone, Ukulele, Clarinet, as well as often incorporating his own vocals in covers and originals. With a natural passion for music at a young age, Kareem became enrolled in classical piano lessons at age 5, which became the backbone for his musicality. At age 11 he picked up clarinet for elementary school band, and in the following years, would teach himself ukulele and guitar. At 13 he would pick up saxophone for secondary school Jazz band. Now at 15, he has started to produce furnished music. Currently enrolled in Wellington Secondary Schools nationally revered Jazz band, as well as participating in other school bands, Kareem lives in a very musical environment where ideas can be built upon. Kareem is generally a solo artist, writing, recording, mixing, mastering and producing all his music. His songs will often use a altered jazz form, with an intro, main melody/head, followed by instrumental solos, then followed by the melody/head, and ending with an outro. His original music is hard to pin to a genre, but is usually in the realm of RnB and Experimental Jazz/Funk. He is just starting to dip his feet into music production, and will definitely have more to put our there, so stay tuned!
