Jimmy Michaels (Born February 24, 1970) is a music producer, songwriter, audio engineer and former owner of the independent label JMP Music. Jimmy was named one of the top 10 mixdown and mastering engineers in Indie Rock Music by the Independent Music Guild Of America's 2009 list. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Jimmy produced music in many different genres, though most notable for Indie Rock acts. He was active on the independent music scene in sporadic intervals from the very early 1990's through 2016. In a 2010 radio interview, Jimmy had stated that some of his musical influences were very wide ranged and included Freddie Mercury, Patrick Cowley and Phil Collins. Some of the artists and composers outside of the Indie Rock genre that Jimmy had worked with over the years are Tony Powers, D.C. LaRue, Peter Lemongello, Gerhard Heinz and Richard Hieronymus. Since his retirement from producing music in 2017, Jimmy has worked as a freelance mixdown and mastering engineer while running his own small digital release label on the side called Sound Preservation Records. During this same time period, Jimmy also issued a few albums of some of his never before released Easy Listening instrumental arrangements of 70's and 80's pop hits that were produced several years earlier.
