Jonathan Mayer began his musical training at the early age of 5 with Violin, Piano & Composition and began learning the sitar at 16 years of age. He studied composition from his father and later from Andrew Downes at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied both sitar and composition. As a concert sitarist he have performed in a variety of genres and so far his career has seen him play with artists such as Dave Stewart, Kathryn Tickell, Kumar Bose, Kuljit Bhamra, Erich Gruenburg, Rohan De Saram, Future Sounds of London and Sir Paul McCartney. He has written pieces for The London Philharmonic Orchestra, The Orlando Consort, Pilsen Philharmonia, BBC National Orchestra or Wales, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra and The Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra.
