Born from a collective of coders, musicians, graphic designers, and filmmakers, London’s Miro Shot have been pushing the limits of what a band can be since their inception. By utilising the advancements in virtual reality tech the band has developed a groundbreaking type of live show for fans. Alongside playing regular concerts, attendees are invited to an event earlier in the day to wear VR headsets while the band play live. As the performance begins the band are seen on the headsets as digital versions of themselves. When a chorus kicks in they are floating above a lake. From there the possibilities are endless for the duration of the set. “An amazing concert is transcendental, so we wanted to look at how our notion of reality has changed and fractured as technology becomes more and more prevalent,” Roman Rappak, de facto leader of the group explains. Since premiering their immersive VR performance at the Center for Contemporary Art in Amsterdam in 2017, the band has continued to perfect this innovative live offering at various locations in Amsterdam, Paris, and London, ranging from galleries, cinemas, theaters, and even squats. Currently featuring 1500+ members and counting, the Miro Shot Collective now contributes to the visuals of the band and is open to anyone who wishes to collaborate.
