Plumes is a Paris-based avant-pop project, originally formed in Montréal. They’ve released 3 critically acclaimed albums which include arrangements ranging from electric guitar and drums to full orchestra. They are devoted to making catchy, emotionally raw songs that are influenced by classical music styles and techniques. Singer-songwriter Veronica Charnley’s clear, high voice and adventurous melodies have drawn comparisons to Kate Bush, and St-Vincent and the arrangements for harp, strings, clarinets, drums, electric guitars and synths have drawn comparisons to Dirty Projectors and Satie. What critics have said of their last release: “…Oh Orwell is one of the year's best albums and a great example of sincere, introspective avant-pop at its finest.” (Exclaim! September, 2019) “… There are so many musical bursts of colour on Oh Orwell that not even a kaleidoscope could contain Plumes…” (Dominionated, September 2019)
