Straight from the underground of west coast hip-hop’s origins in Compton, California, Sir Jon Lee is bringing a rejuvenating sound to the city’s landscape. Coming from more of a musically-inclined family than most, he spent his childhood years inside of recording studios and backstages. His father notably was a vocalist, guitarist, and music producer and his cousin often accompanied g funk legends Nate Dogg and Butch Cassidy on records. Even though all this, Jon had a deeply rooted passion for music, he didn’t have the urge to create. His friends had to pressure him into a Dip-Set knockoff group during his early teenage years. It wasn’t until seeing Kanye West’s "Through The Wire" video that he thought he could carve his own lane in the genre. Curious and scholarly, Sir Jon Lee started learning off of the early 2000s Pop Rap. His health problems during his youth kept him in and out of the hospital and pushed him to attend a denominational school. Filled with musical prodigies, he certainly felt like the odd one out, but it fueled his determination to sharpen his own craft. Now, Jon finds himself combining his cinematic production with forward-thinking lyrics to deliver a sound that strikes a balance between being a homage to his roots while brashly pushing against the boundaries of modern-day hip-hop. From those days cracking the code to FL Studio and penning page after page of lyrics, Sir Jon Lee is ready to return at full force!
