Amsterdam based guitarist Maarten van der Grinten played on many stages over the world with his own bands and with great singers like @Mathilde Santing, @Laura Fygi, @Greetje Kauffeld and @Rima Khcheich. With his melodic and adventurous jazz style with lush chords and warm semi-acoustic sound he is influential for many young jazz guitarist. Along with Jesse van Ruller and Martijn van Iterson he is the torch holder in the school of the famous late Dutch guitarist Wim Overgaauw at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam, which hosted most of the new generation of creative guitarists in the Netherlands like Reinier Baas, Raphael Vanoli, Matīss Čudars, George Dimitriu, Teis Semey, Gijs Idema and Ella Zīriņa. The 1999 duo record Van der grinten made with Van Ruller ( Nine Stories) is regarded by many jazz guitarist as the new standard in its category. In Martha Jane & the Talisman he explored more of his pop and producing skills and with the famous Dutch composer @Theo Loevendie and his band he has been playing more conceptual advanced improvised muziek. As well as with the trio @DIG d’DIZ. Maarten’s love for songs and gift for making colorful guitar arrangements, also brought him to the newest project, A Guitar, a Man & a Song, recording songs (as well as originals) for solo guitar. All beautifully captured with 4k video and many camera angles, including improvisations and original arrangements; released weekly, song by song on YouTube. https://bit.ly/GuitarManSong
