Sliding between acoustic piano, muffled strings with overlays of reverberated sounds and bells; Lars Emil Riis's music creates a calm atmosphere drawing from styles such as ambient, classical, improvised and atmospheric jazz. Immersing himself in creating the new album, Lars Emil Riis spent a month in a small studio in a Copenhagen suburb, improvising, refining and reflecting on the sound and expression captured on the the album ‘Imellem Stammerne’. “Waking up to find a world at a standstill, the music is informed by listening deeply to see what is left when you strip away layers and start to become one with what’s going on inside. Like one would do when taking long walks in a forest looking up at the majestic trees. This, combined with His love for finding the magical stuff that comes from playing and recording on old and somewhat unpredictable pianos, has become the musical expression of the album” Lars is actually writing these words himself, even though it's written in the third person.
