Mason Downard (No Otoko) is a 17-year-old American rapper from Tennessee. Mason began recording music in 2021 and started recording Dubstep songs in September 2022. At 15 years old, Mason uploaded "Discriminating Faces" to his YouTube channel on November 3rd, 2022. The record was recorded in a dorm room closet and was edited on a Samsung phone. It was posted the same night. The song was taken down by YouTube so Mason was discouraged until he heard the song on his phone while riding to the school on the bus. That night Mason then uploaded the track again on March 5th, 2023. It became the most-viewed video on his channel at that time. The video had 400 views. Mason continued to release tracks until July 7th, 2023. Mason was 16 and decided he wanted to record a song called "Frozen Reflections/ My Last Message", at this time Mason had not slept for 2 days straight and was going through a lot with his friends and family. The track was uploaded on all main streaming platforms, not catching any traction until August of 2023. It had only 1,000 plays at this time on SoundCloud. Mason continued to release more tracks while checking the song's status every night. To Mason, this inspired him. Around May of 2024, Mason checked the song's status once again and saw that it had gained another 59,000 plays on Spotify. About two months later Mason went through a breakup around July 10th. he checked the song one last time and it hit 100,000 plays. Mason continues to release records.
