Silla and Rise were a musical group consisting of members from Inuit throat singing duo, Silla, performing alongside global-grooves producer/percussionist Rise Ashen. Performing with Rise since 2016, Silla’s members Charlotte Qamaniq from Iglulik and Cynthia Pitsiulak from Kimmirut, Nunavut worked to put traditional throat singing into a modern context, keeping it thriving in spite of the historical and modern threats posed by colonization.
