Biography

This is how the BR Klassik Bavarian broadcasting company describes the playing of the pianist Alexandra Sostmann. Her four solo albums Bach & Contemporary Music (2014), J.S. Bach: French Suites - Chopin: Mazurkas (2017), Bach, Byrd, Gibbons & Contemporary Music (2020) and Grenzgänge: Frescobaldi To Pärt (2021) prove that as a soloist she can switch seemingly effortlessly from one epoch to another and captivate her listeners with her grandiose pianistic resources. Several albums have also been nominated for the German Record Critics' Award as well as the Opus Klassik. For many years, she has also belonged to the exclusive circle of Steinway Artists. Her performances at internationally renowned festivals have received great recognition. Her preferred composers are Domenico Scarlatti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Frédéric Chopin. But at the top of the list is one of the greatest composers of all time: Johann Sebastian Bach. She admires the artistic and socially engaged diversity of artists like Igor Levit, Yuja Wang, Evgeny Kissin or Bertrand Chamayou.
