Ron Scalzo is the owner of independent record label Bald Freak Music. He is also the vocalist in alternative metal band Return To Earth. Ron’s most recent musical project, Hipster Slaves, is a collaboration with Return To Earth bandmate Chris Pennie (Dillinger Escape Plan/Coheed & Cambria). The Bald Freak label has also released albums from guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, pirate metal band Swashbuckle, Brooklyn duo Black Pig, NYC modern rockers The Head Set, and Q*Ball -- Scalzo's now-retired electro-rock project with Thal. In 2012, Ron’s house – including the New York City studio, office and warehouse that comprised Bald Freak Music – was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. After the flood, Ron traveled around the world to record new music. Ron released his first solo album -- The Last Q*Ball Album -- in 2014, followed by You Deserve The Best in 2015, and I Gotta Rock in 2017. Ron also hosts and produces Independent Minded -- a podcast that has championed the work of independent musicians from all over the world since 2012.
