David Klock is a composer of instrumental concert music as well as collaborative pieces for multimedia projects. His works have been featured in "Playas de Tijuana Mural Project", a documentary by Lizbeth de la Cruz Santana, Humanizing Deportation, a community-based digital storytelling project, The Neighborhood Arts Collective, a multidisciplinary arts organization, and published by T.U.X. People’s Music. Recently, David was invited to join Parma Recordings on their MOTO series. His piece "Water in Motion" (for violin, cello, and piano) will be recorded by the supremely talented Trio Casals and premiered at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. A classical guitarist by training, David is fascinated by the intersection of folk and classical traditions. He has a ravenous appetite for the blues, a background in the European canon, and a curiosity that leads him from bluegrass to psychedelic cumbia. His work draws inspiration from such varied sources as Dmitri Shostakovich, Gustavo Santaolalla, Rhiannon Giddens, Béla Bartók, Matthew McBane, and Otis Taylor.   David is the co-founder of, and served as Executive Director of, The Neighborhood Arts Collective, a 501(c)3 organization that creates art inspired by the lives of individual people. The organization exists to create opportunities for community members to empathize with one another. David conceived of this project as an artistic response to the division and separation so prevalent in today’s world.
