Biography

Barney Rachabane was one of the few musicians to remain active during the decline of South African jazz, in the 1970s and '80s. In addition to leading his own group, Rachabane collaborated on a series of Technobush recordings with Hugh Masakela and recorded and toured with Paul Simon. Rachabane has been at the forefront of South African jazz since the 1960s when he performed in several bands with drummer Early Mabuza and recorded with jazz pianist Abdullah Ibrahim. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
