While going under the moniker of Kepler, the quartet of Mike Sheridan, Jon Georgekishwatt, Samir Khan, and Weights and Measures drummer Jeremy Gara brought on a mellow, noise-driven indie sound to their native Ottawa. Upon their 1997 formation, Spectra Sonic Sound Records released the band's debut single "Between Still Sheets"/"Can You Steer By Mars?" in 1999.
