Beginning at the turn of the century, D’LEAU infused the music industry with innovative detail from his prolific creativity. He spearheaded the contemporary alternative R&B movement with his first band, J*Davey. Playing sold out shows and tours as one half of the soulful electro-punk duo, J*Davey opened for Prince during his Las Vegas residency, The Roots at Radio City Music Hall alongside Jay-Z, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, and signed a multi-album deal with Warner Records. The influence of J*Davey’s sound has been cited by some of the most prominent players in the industry: The Weeknd and The Internet. D’LEAU’s pivotal work as a songwriter and producer on the lead single “Coffee” from Miguel’s third studio album Wildheart led to his first Grammy-nomination. The double-platinum release “#Beautiful” by Mariah Carey followed by his production and creative direction for Raphael Saadiq’s latest album: Jimmy Lee solidified his inventive reputation. Now a leader through his musical direction for the industry’s most well-known artists: Miguel, Jhene Aiko, CeeLo Green, Yuna, KYLE, Becky G. D’LEAU returns to the musical forefront bringing the industry a fresh post-funk sound, inspiring an eclectic combination provoking the coming climax of tomorrow’s music.
